OUT OF STATE VEHICLES

If you have shipped your vehicle to Hawaii from the US Mainland or anywhere in the world, the State of Hawaii requires that you register the vehicle within 30 days of its arrival. It is extremely important that all of the required documents are available at the time your are registering the vehicle. If the vehicle is LEASED you must obtain a LIMITED POWER OF ATTORNEY from the leasing company in order to sign State of Hawaii Application Cards on behalf of the leasing company.

If the vehicle is not yet in Hawaii then go here.

In all other cases you will need to bring with you the following documents:

• The most recent Out-of-State registration statement
• The title to the vehicle (unless it is being held by a lienholder)
• The Bill of Lading or shipping receipt which show when the vehicle arrived in Hawaii.
• A current Safety Inspection Certificate
• Hawaii No-Fault insurance card.
• G-27 Tax form

If the Certificate of Title is in another person's name, and you are attempting to transfer title, you will be required to submit the Out-of-State title properly signed off by the previous owner and notarized if so required by a statement on the title.
